Hello hello!
Sorry, I know it's been a while since I updated this blog... Well let me get you all caught up:
1.) My AFS application is now officially in Austria...I thought it was before now, but I guess it's doubly official (?)
2.) I have been accepted into ASSE program (through which I am applying for the Congress-Bundestag full-ride scholarship) as well, and...
3.) I am a finalist for the Congress-Bundestag, I'm pretty sure, and the next and possibly final step of the application is a panel interview on February 20th.
4.) Online German classes have been going quite dandy, especially now that I have a tutor to help me! I scored 100% on the final and overall a 96% in the class, thanks to Max, my tutor.
Ok, now I can tell you about the epiphany: I admit I definately had some negative feelings about Congress-Bundestag, probably because a lack of exposure to the program (I have much deeper connections with the AFS program.)
And then epiphany struck:
1.) I know I can have a great year wherever I go, however I go, and the most important part is my host family and host city, not the culture.
2.) It was selfish of me to expect my parents to pay $4000-$10000 dollars more because of my prejudices towards the ASSE program.
3.) And Congress-Bundestag is not bad program. It's probably a wonderful program; I just don't know anything about it.
I think that pretty much sums up everything so far!
Happy Valentine's (Singles Awareness) Day!
~Madeleine
